Favorite Camp: Ponil
The Cantina Show. The beginning of our madness and my first shower at Philmont.
Worst Camp: None
I liked all the camps especially the ones we had to use iodine in the water.
Worst Thorn: No horse riding
In each of the camps that had horse riding as an activity were booked. We did not get to ride the horses.
Best Rose: Shooting my Hat
At Sawmill camp we were allowed to shoot at our own stuff. I put my hat as a target on the range. Now it has many holes and memories of Philmont.
Favorite Trail Lunch: None
The lunches were all about the same. I liked the Gatorade mixes for the water.
Favorite Trail Dinner: Black Beans and Rice with Green Beans
Most of the dinners were OK, but I liked the Black Beans and Rice. It was very good and spicy.
Favorite Trail Breakfast: None
The breakfasts were all about the same.
Favorite Activity: 30.6 rifle shooting
I was able to put holes in my hat.
If I went again I would bring... Gameboy and MP3 player
I would bring them for the long train ride.
If I went again I would not bring... Sunscreen, bug spray and extra trail food.
I did not use any of these items. I also did not use my tooth brush or tooth paste. It was always in the bear bag.
Would I go again? Yes
Because Philmont is one of the best experiences I have had and the more the better.
Activities I would like to see on the next Trek: Black Powder rifle shooting, shotgun shooting and 30.6 shooting.
